Born in NY and raised in the Midwest, I have enjoyed using my profession as an excuse to move around the country. I moved to California in 2011 as a postdoctoral fellow with Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa. Prior to moving west I was an undergrad at Manhattan College in Bronx, NY, attended graduate school at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and completed my pre-doctoral internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. In 2017 I co-authored a book, 101 Ways to Conquer Teen Anxiety, published by Ulysses Press. In my free time I like taking advantage of all Northern California has to offer, including skiing, swimming, and live music.
I am a licensed psychologist specializing in treating adults with mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and other life stressors. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University with a sub specialization in community mental health. I have had a passion for Psychology since I was an undergrad and completed a B.A. in psychology from Pepperdine University. Later on I moved to the Bay Area in 2007 from Southern California to attend graduate school and have decided to make it my permanent home. In therapy, I work collaboratively with my clients to help them identify their strengths and define goals. I strive to create a safe space for clients to feel accepted and I use a variety of evidence-based techniques in accordance with each client’s individual needs. My goal is to learn and understand my clients by meeting them where they are and helping them to uncover their own journey of healing.
Having grown up in the SF Bay Area and earning my BA from Stanford, I moved to Boston for graduate school and practiced psychotherapy for over 25 years before moving back to San Francisco. As a clinical psychologist, I have extensive experience providing caring and compassionate therapy services to college students, adults, and couples.
I help people manage emotional distress (such as anxiety and depression), increase interpersonal effectiveness, and negotiate major life transitions such as separations, loss, and other challenges.
My style is collaborative and I use an integrated approach, combining interpersonal therapy with cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness techniques.
I also use EMDR techniques when indicated to help alleviate distressing memories.
I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist who provides trilingual individual therapy in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. I attended University of California, Berkeley for undergraduate studies and received my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Alliant International University-California School of Professional Psychology. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC), San Francisco and postdoctoral residency in adult and child psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente, Fremont. I practice from an integrative, evidence-based collaborative care approach. I have witnessed my clients’ capacity to reach their potential and to fulfill their needs with persistence to achieve awareness. Your active participation is essential to feeling better and promoting wellness. In my free time, I like traveling, spending time with friends and family, and pursuing new hobbies such as piano and golf.
I was born and raised in Shanghai, China and immigrated to the US 20+ years ago. San Francisco is my second home and I am so happy to be a psychologist in this city. I obtained my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at The Wright Institute in Berkeley. I completed my predoctoral training at Trauma Recovery Center of the Department of Psychiatry at University of California San Francisco. I then finished my postdoctoral fellowship at National Asian-American Psychological Training Center. I specialize in treating people with anxiety, trauma, relationship/personality issues, grief, and cross-cultural issues.
I am a Bay Area native that has lived in San Francisco for the past two decades. I received my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant University. I specialize in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness practices, Solution Focused Therapies, and the Gottman Method. I also specialize in working with the LGBTQ community. My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive, and goal focused. When working with couples I focus on making practical communication changes that increase closeness and intimacy. In my free time I am an avid reader, classical music fan, and find any excuse to walk my dog, Petunia.
